It’s truly remarkable how strong the bond between a dog and his or her family can be, as seen with this newborn baby and pit bull.

Over time, they learn each other’s moods, habits, passions, and annoyances. Through the ups and the downs of life, there’s a sense that they’ll always be there for each other, no matter what.

This definitely was the case for the Feaser family, who had an unfortunate accident that they were unaware of until their German shepherd, Maxx, came to the rescue.

Brett and Margo Feaser were safe and sound at their home with their two young children in Orlando, FL, when a fire suddenly broke out. Their next-door neighbors, Chip Dover and son Andrew Dover, along with Joe Jordan, all heard an explostion. When they came out to investigate, they were petrified to see the Feaser’s backyard completely on fire.

Chip recalled: “We were getting ready to come in when we heard a big explosion, and the house just blew up. We ran over there immediately and it was burning like crazy, and then we realized the family was still inside.”

The neighbors called 911 and then leaped into action, but not without the help of an unexpected friend: Maxx, the Feaser’s family dog.

First, they broke the front window that allowed Margo to escape the flames, and then they rescued Brett as well. By the time the firefighters arrived, the house was so thick with smoke that navigation seemed almost impossible. However, the children were still in their rooms. And that’s when Maxx really came to the rescue.
